Acronis Backup (formerly Acronis Backup & Recovery) - application for backup and disaster recovery of servers and laptops running Windows in physical and virtual environments, which can be downloaded for free on cwer.ws. It is a new generation of the Acronis True Image family and is a powerful tool for protecting servers.
Acronis Backup simplifies and automates backup and recovery. In the process of creating a backup, the new product line from Acronis eliminates duplicate data, thus saving up to 90% of the amount of backup storage. With this program, you can restore an entire hard drive, including the operating system, applications, settings and all user data, and individual files and folders.
- Convenience of backup and recovery of the operating system of laptops. Backup copies of the laptop operating system can be stored in any centralized storage or locally in the Acronis Secure Zone to provide immediate recovery in case of failures.
- Quick system recovery. Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 will restore the entire contents of the hard disk, including the OS, applications and user data in minutes, not hours or even days.
- Intuitive interface and system of masters. Users can restore files, folders and even their servers without the help of an administrator and do not need long-term training
- Migration to new equipment. Recovery on a different hardware is easy to perform with the Acronis Backup & Recovery Universal Restore plug-in. Move the old system to a new one, including all applications, data and settings, and the computer is ready to continue working after a few minutes.
- Rapid recovery of operating systems, applications, files and data
- Quick and easy backup and restore of a full disk image
- Convenient "bare metal" recovery on the same or different hardware, or in a virtual machine
- Backup and restore of individual folders on disk or network shared folders
- Restore individual files and folders from an image-based backup
- Convert backups to virtual machines
- Support for various storage systems
- Local folders, network folders SMB and FTP-servers

- Security Zone ® Acronis ® - a special protected partition on the hard disk
- CD, DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-ray Discs
- ZIP®, REV® and other removable media
- Acronis Cloud Storage
- Support for a wide range of platforms
- Physical machines or virtual machines on VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix, Red Hat, or Parallels platforms
- Systems with BIOS and UEFI boot
- MBR and GPT Drives
- Basic and dynamic disks, LVM
- Increased reliability and protection of archives
- Write backups to multiple locations
- Write backup copies to the cloud storage of Acronis Backup & Recovery Online.
- Protect backups using the AES encryption algorithm with a key length of 256 bits
- Restoring a failed computer to other hardware or a virtual machine in minutes.
- The transfer of systems according to the scheme "physical-virtual", "virtual-physical", "physical-physical" or "virtual-virtual" for the purpose of restoration, testing, etc.
- Installing the new hardware drivers and replacing the HAL level to boot the computer after changing the motherboard or the hard disk controller, or to transfer the hard drive to another machine.
- Cloning and deploying operating systems regardless of hardware.
- Installation
- Microsoft SQL Server 2014 can be used to store the databases of Acronis Backup Management Server.
- Licensing
- Support for a subscription licensing model. For more information, see FAQ about licensing of Acronis Backup.
- Deduplication
- 1 TB of unique data requires RAM of 128 MB instead of 3 GB.
- There is no need to allocate a deduplication database on expensive SSD disks. You can use regular hard drives (HDD) without sacrificing performance.
- Recovery from a duplicate backup is 40 percent faster.
- The backup speed does not decrease as the size of the deduplication database increases.
- The start time of the storage node in large data sets is reduced and now is 1-3 minutes.
- Deduplicated backups and data compression are now 2.5 times faster.
- These improvements take place if v11.7 agents back up to deduplicating vaults created in storage nodes v11.7. When the new agent backs up to the old repository or the old agent backs up to the new storage, the old deduplication algorithm is used. To apply a new deduplication algorithm to old backups, you must import the backups into a new storage.
- Support for backup to tape
- Customizable block size for reading and writing on tapes. The default value is taken from the tape device driver.
- A list of hardware compatibility (HCL, Hardware Compatibility List) and an equipment compatibility tool is provided. The hardware compatibility list contains tape devices that are guaranteed to be supported by Acronis Backup. To find out if your device is supported, use the hardware compatibility tool.
- Full support for LTO-7 technology. See the list of devices compatibility list that lists the names of the tested devices.
- Centralized management
- You can specify a custom backup store for each machine that is included in the centralized backup plan.
- In addition to exporting licenses from the management server to an XML file, you can export them to a .txt file.
- Microsoft Exchange Server Support
- The agent for Exchange can back up and restore the Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 database. Exchange 2000 Mailbox backup and recovery (including recovery of mailboxes from database backups) is not supported.
- Supported Operating Systems
- Support for Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 4.
- Support for the Linux kernel versions 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4.
- Support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2, Oracle Linux 7.2, ClearOS, Debian 8.2, Ubuntu 15.10 and Fedora 23.
- Support for Windows 2000 in Acronis Backup Advanced is limited. The v11.7 components can not be installed on this operating system. To create backup copies of machines running Windows 2000, use the v11.5 agents. Agents v11.5 are compatible with v11.7 management components.
- Acronis Backup for Windows Server and Acronis Backup for PC can not be installed on Windows 2000. To create a backup copy of machines running this operating system, use v11.5.
- Acronis Backup v11.5 supports Windows 2000 SP4.
- Other
- You can use compression in combination with hardware or software deduplication from third-party manufacturers (only for disk-level backups). This will help to significantly reduce the amount of data storage that is used by backups.
- Additional functions are available through the command line interface:
- Generating Management Server Reports
- Deploying an agent for VMware (virtual device)
- The agent for VMware does not back up independent disks and RDM disks in the physical compatibility mode regardless of the state of the virtual machine. This restriction is implemented to ensure better predictability in the work of the product.
- The size of 32-bit bootable media based on Linux has been optimized by removing the rarely used utility acrocmd.
- If the disk backup is connected in read / write mode, then the corresponding incremental backup is created not immediately after that, but after disabling the backup copy of the disk. Changes made with a connected backup are saved in the% Temp% folder.
